Self-publishing is the publication of any book or other media by its author without involving any established publisher.

In self-publishing, the author is in control of all the things like the design of the cover and interior of the book, price, marketing, distribution, formats and public relations. It depends on the authors whether they want to do all of it by themselves or to outsource some of it or all of it to the companies which provide these services.

By self-publishing Ebooks, websites, brochures, and other media can also be published commonly to support the author’s work. It is not just limited to publishing physical books.

KDP Rocket Review - Best Keyword Tool for Authors?

kdp rocket review image

Are you a writer who has a lot of extensive niche research to do?

If you're like most authors, you want your book to have success on launch day and beyond.

However, there's a common pitfall that some authors encounter. Some authors think their book idea is stellar, but guess what, no one is looking for their book idea (aka title/subtitle) on Amazon because they didn't do enough keyword research. They think of a title for their book before checking if people are searching for it on Amazon. This is doing things backward in my opinion.

If you want to make money as an author in today's age, then make sure to read this article.

Why Keyword Research is Important

Amazon.com is a search engine. It gets a ton of traffic each day, and you want to leverage this free Amazon traffic to your new book(s) in your niche.

Readers specifically, usually go to the Kindle Store search engine (they can filter through departments) and type in the phrase (or keyword) they're looking for.

So for example, if you were thinking about writing a book on Dash, a cryptocurrency (imagine you invest in such currencies), because you think "I can make a guidebook from this," you'll be a bit disappointed.

Why?

A Kindle keyword research tool like KDP Rocket shows that the keyword "dash" actually leads to keywords like "dash diet" when searched for on Amazon.com.

(Check out my more in-depth KDP Rocket Review for more benefits, images, and features)

Instead of typing a phrase like that into this software, try "dash cryptocurrency."

Now we're honing in on the correct niche.

This tool shows that this phrase is searched less than 100 times on Amazon every month. Which is quite low and you'll find it difficult for your Dash Cryptocurrency guidebook to catch steam.

We need something with a lot more searches (I recommend above 1,000). But, hey at least KDP Rocket saved you here. You could've wasted time writing this book or wasted money on outsourcing the book to be written.

I wouldn't recommend publishing this book (or a similar like keyword) unless you already have an established audience in this niche.

Is There a Free Tool That Shows Amazon Searches Per Month?

Unfortunately, Amazon likes to keep things hush-hush when it comes to data. Of the data, they do provide for keywords are:
  • Number of competitors
  • Amazon Best Seller Ranking (ABSR)
These are the two main data numbers they let authors see, but the third most important data point is Amazon Searches Per Month. They don't like sharing that. However, tools like KDP Rocket integrate with Amazon's data systems and displays it everytime you want to do some research.

I've used other tools in the past for keyword research, but they don't provide Amazon searches per month. Tools like KDSpy and Kindle Samurai don't provide search volume. This is what sets KDP Rocket apart from the competition.

Before KDP Rocket you would use one of these two other tools and base research off things like Amazon reviews, and ranking. These factors are still good, but like stated earlier - nothing replaces the missing puzzle piece: Amazon's monthly keyword search volume.

Whether you're a new self-publisher or a veteran self-publisher, this tool should definitely be in your arsenal.

If you’re new, you’ll be starting off on the right foot. And if you’re a seasoned author, or publisher, then you’ll be best suited to optimize your existing and future books.
